This week I’m sharing a photo from Time Out Market Osaka! The building looks a bit like Hudson Yards in NYC—but yes, it’s right here in Osaka. This recently renovated area now has high-end restaurants, a fancy hotel, unique shops, and a family-friendly park. It’s amazing… except for the unbearable heat! We enjoyed a wagyu sandwich, oyako-don (chicken & egg over rice), and tacos. They say you are what you eat—I’m happily recharging myself in Japan!
We made it to Osaka after a 13-hour flight! This photo is a little promo for World Expo Osaka—we plan to check it out soon! It’s been over 90°F every day, and I’m noticing all the ways people here handle the heat: portable fans (new models every year!), tons of cooling items in stores, and of course, I’m using a UV-protect umbrella when I go out. It feels very different from NYC… Can’t wait to see what’s new for surviving summer in Japan!
Starting this Saturday, I’ll be visiting Japan for about a month! I just unpacked a suitcase full of pop-up gear—and now it’s time to pack again! I'm originally from Osaka, and all of my family is in Japan, so I’m really excited to go back. I’m sure I’ll be inspired by the scenery, culture, food, and everything in between. I’ll be back on August 18th, and all orders will be shipped after that. Stay tuned!
Last-minute decision—I’ll be joining the Grand Bazaar Pop-Up on July 13th! After that, I’ll be heading to Japan to visit my family. My store will be closed while I’m away, but I’m sure the trip will fill me with new inspiration and ideas. Stay tuned, and wishing everyone a wonderful summer!
Father’s Day is around the corner! Any weekend plans? BBQ? Brunch? We’ve got two classic dad favorites—pizza and burgers! 🍕🍔 And if you're eating outside… watch out for pigeons—they’re always eyeing our food!
My last pop-up on the Upper East Side was a success! It was windy and chilly, but I met so many people interested in my language-inspired jewelry. This Sunday will be our final spring pop-up at Grand Bazaar on the Upper West Side. After that, I’ll focus on restocks, new pieces, and preparing for my trip to Japan in July. In the meantime, my online shop is always open!
This week, I’m sharing a photo of a pigeon shape I cut from a metal sheet. Pigeons and NYC are truly connected—and next month, the High Line is hosting its first-ever Pigeon Impersonation Pageant on June 14! 🐦 There's even a gigantic pigeon art installation nearby right now. What a uniquely New York event!
Last Saturday, I had a pop-up at the art supply store I mentioned in my last update. Funny enough, two visitors asked if I had a pigeon motif, after seeing my other New York–inspired pieces. I’ve been asked that before—pigeons are very New York (like rats, but cuter 🐦😅). So now I’m sketching one! Hopefully coming soon!
This Saturday, I’ll be doing a pop-up at an art supply store in Queens, New York—not your ordinary store! They host workshops, sip-and-paint nights, tasting events, and more. It’s a smaller setup than usual, but I love the cozy vibe, the creative community, and meeting other vendors. The owner is an artist himself and such a kind, helpful person. I’m really looking forward to it! What’s your favorite kind of place to sell your work?
Last Sunday, I joined the Brooklyn Yarn Crawl—an annual event organized by local yarn shops. There were raffles, discounts, exclusive yarn colors, pop-ups, and more! If you don’t know me yet, I’m a knitter. Knitting is like mindfulness for me—and sometimes, it even sparks design ideas. I know many of you are selling what you love here—do you also have a big hobby outside your art?
Last weekend, we visited Woodstock for the first time! It's a music and artsy town, with guitar-shaped signs everywhere. Tie-dye shops felt touristy, but in the square, someone was playing music, and we found local stores, antique barns, and unique bars and restaurants. We also stopped by Kingston, just 20 minutes away—still such a fascinating town no matter how many times we visit. The weather was beautiful. I’m hoping this trip refreshes my mind and inspires new ideas!
We visited Branch Brook Park in NJ on Monday to cherish the sakura—perfect timing, not too early, not too late. As a Japanese person, cherry blossoms feel deeply special, marking the start of a new season and new beginnings (like our fiscal year). It was a beautiful spring getaway, full of emotion and renewal—maybe similar to the spirit of Easter?
Passover is coming, and we’re having a small family gathering this Saturday. I wasn’t familiar with Jewish traditions at first, but year by year, I’ve learned what we do—and what we eat! Now I even make matzo brei (like a pancake made from crackers) when my husband asks. At first, I had no clue what I was doing—but now I’ve found my own way. Exploring different cultures always inspires me—it often finds its way into my jewelry designs.
This Sunday, I’ll be at Grand Bazaar, one of NYC’s biggest markets! I love this event and join almost every month. It’s always exciting to share new pieces and see people's reactions in person. Hearing their thoughts helps me refine my designs and I can get new ideas. ✨ What inspires your creativity?
This week, I’m highlighting my Smile pendant in honor of Eid al-Fitr. My jewelry is inspired by actual words, and this piece comes from the Arabic script for ‘smile.’ I love transforming language into wearable art, connecting meaning with design. Wishing happiness to those who celebrate!
Spring is in full bloom! 🌸 This week, I’m sharing my cherry blossom necklace and earrings—pieces that capture the fleeting beauty of the season. And those are designed with Japanese word さくら(sakura), that means cherry blossom. Let me know what you think!
Excited to be part of Lyric! I create handcrafted jewelry inspired by language—turning Japanese Hiragana, Arabic, and English letters into wearable art. Each piece tells a story and sparks conversation. Can’t wait to share more with you!
